Internal Rating
Internal Rating:
All active Referees of South Coast Referee Assn are assigned a rating as a Referee and as an Assistant Referee for use by the Assignor in game assignments.. This rating uses the current USSF grade and information from on-the-field performances and/or previous Referee experience. It comprises a 3 digit rating with the last digit ending in your USSF grade (last 2 digits for Emeritus Referees). The rating range is from 100 – 999 and an explanation is as follows:

As an example, a Grade 6 referee capable of all but the most challenging games would be rated 206..
The SCRA Board has appointed the Director of Development in charge of managing Referee SCRA internal ratings. The Director of Development can at any time increase or decrease a Referee/Asst Referee rating based on the individuals performance and competencies up to a 300 rating for a Referee; no limit for the Asst Referee rating . However, the Board will review the entire active members list twice a year and make adjustments as needed utilizing a quorum during regularly scheduled monthly Board meetings. An individual’s rating is available to the individual member only online in the Arbiter application under “Custom Fields”.
Any member, who wants to have their internal rating reviewed, can send an email to the Director of Development. The Director of Development will evaluate the request using available information and advise the individual of the outcome.
On requests for a Center Referee rating of 200 or 100, the Director of Development will inform the SCRA Board where at least 2 Board members must agree to the change. Criteria for a Center grade 200 or 100 requires that the member have a USSF grade of 7 or lower. Information such as assignor feedback, field assessments, referee feedback and any other pertinent information will be reviewed and discussed as part of the evaluation process. For a 100, the member should have a USSF State grade of 6 or lower..
There are a number of items evaluated in order to qualify as a top SCRA referee which may include but not limited to:
· Fitness - Ability to cover the field (regularly be within 10 – 15 yards off active play)
· Anticipation of the game dynamics
· Command and control of players, coaches & spectators
· Approachability
· Good judgment for fouls/non-calls
· Proper application of Laws of the Game and Advantage
· Active participation in continuing education for improvement
